World mind sport games in ChinaIntroductionOctober 4th-17th 2008, the first World Mind Sport Games will be held in China. It is clear that these can be high, especially travel costs, as China is far and flight tickets during the Olympics period will be scarce. Even though we may attempt to attract sponsors, there is no guarantee that this will succeed. Below is a first verion of the policy of the Belgian Go Federation w.r.t. composing a deleguation. If more similar events will be organised in the future we will integrate them in our global selection rules, which may be different from the rules below. The free participantAccording to the IGF, the Chinese Go Association will provide one free return air ticket to each member of the IGF for participation in the open tournament in which only amateurs can compete at the WSMG. If more than 4 candidates apply for BGF sponsoring, we give priority to have at least one participation in each of the following categories:
If necessary selection will happen through the results of the most recent corresponding Belgian championship, or - in absence of such results - by rating. If sufficient members participate we would much appreciate that they also participate in the category 'team'. Participation feePlease notice that according to the IGF, a participation fee has to be paid. As at the time of the latest BGF board meeting this was not yet known, the BGF did not decide yet on how to distribute the participation fee costs among the participants and the BGF.
