Format:
5 Round MacMahon where final standings will be determined by MacMahon Score with SOS and SODOS as 1st and 2nd tiebreakers.
Handicap -2 is applied for players below 15kyu when they play each other.
1h main time, 20 stones in 5m Canadian byoyomi; Japanese rules with 6.5 komi.

Entry Fee:
€20 for pre-registered adult players 14kyu and stronger
€15 for pre-registered adult players 15kyu and lower, or players under 18yo.
+€5 surcharge for registrations after 24/05/2026 or on the day of the tournament

Preliminaries Belgian Championship

In this tournament, we determine which four players will qualify for the Belgian Championship Finals on 16 and 17 May. They will be joined by the four top finishers from last year’s finals (*).

The tournament is open and free of charge to all members of the BGF (and open only to members).
Non-Belgian players have to have been domiciliated in Belgium since at least one year.

(*) Pre-qualified players are: Jan Ramon, Kevin Prist, Yannick Kuy, Lucman Bounoider.

How to get there

The tournament location is 20 minutes walking from the Brussel North train station (Brussel-Noord / Bruxelles-Nord)
2 minutes away from the tram station Côteaux
15 minutes away from the metro station Botanique

1st round on 10 AM on Saturday 14/03.
Swiss system - 7 rounds (possibly round robin up to 8 participants)
Timing: 60 minutes + 20 stones/5 min Canadian byo-yomi.

Registration Deadline: Please apply before Friday 13/03 at 18h.

Kevin Prist (3-d) has won the 15th edition of the tournament of Ghent, ahead of our young rising star Joachim Laloux (4-k, 14 years old) and Bram Vandenbon (2-d)
To be noted: Guillaume De Keijser (4-k) won against Bram.
