The first round of interclub season 2009 has been succesfully completed with no forfeits.

Cosmic Go League Period 1 Round 3

Here are the results of the 3rd round of our League. The first named had white.

Lucas Neirynck - Olivier Drouot : 1-0
Thomas Connor - François Gonze : 0-1
Daniel French - Kevin Prist : 0-1
Kevin Annachachibi - Aron Safran : 1-0
Cédric Duvinage - Juliette Brault : 0-1

Christopher Annachachibi was very fair-play and propose himself to be
bye this round because there was an odd number of players.

So far, 25 players have participated in the tournament, which is a
great success (there are 89 players in the rating list)!

See you next time!

Belgian Blitz Championship

This year the Belgian Blitz Championship gathered 16 people around the boards for a high-frequence series of games (7 games in 5 hours). Unexpectedly, brownies didn't show up: they were kept for the next Cosmic League round, of course.

However spring was calling us outside, the atmosphere was really good inside.
The 2009 Blitz Champion is Lucas Neirynck: he collected victories and only him could beat Christopher Annachachibi, who is thus second.

See you next year !

Made In Asia

On the 14-15th of March was standing the "Made in Asia" convention, at Brussels Expo. The BGF had a 27m^2 stand to hold. Only four people had a badge and stayed the both days, but additionnal players (we were maybe 8) came to help them taking care of all the "eager young minds" requesting to learn Go.

On the Saturday : it took half an hour to people to come, then we've quickly been saturated with people, during almost all the day.
On the Sunday : There were a very few less people at the convention, and we were only 5 to ensure the teaching, but the stand remained full most of the time.

Most of people came in couple, had heard about the game thanks to Hikaru no Go. Some were attracted by the magnetic giant goban, and had no idea what game was it.

The mood was relaxed, we have 10 people interested by a "beginner session" to contact. A lot more seemed enthousiastic about the game, and will probably talk about it around, which is a good publicity for the game.

Special thanks to Cedric Declerfayt who brang the gear to the convention, and to Jean-Denis Hennebert who came to bring it back on the Sunday evening.

It is with great sorrow and regret that we have to announce the death of our friend Ivan Cloostermans, founder and president of the Roeselare Go club.

In the name of all our members, the board of the BGF sends its deepest sympathy to his wife and his three daughters.
